America’s sweetest town, Clewiston, Florida, is hosting a full day of fun and entertainment for the
entire family at the 22nd Annual Sugar Festival to be held Saturday, April 19, 2008. Continuous
entertainment, food booths, arts and crafts, and old-fashioned cane grinding are all part of the
celebration that marks the end of the annual sugar cane harvest in the farming region south of Lake
Okeechobee. Come and join us for great day of fun.
Residents and visitors from around the state are expected to gather at the state’s sugar capital located on
the shores of Lake Okeechobee from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for this annual spring festival. The day’s activities
will be headquartered at Clewiston’s picturesque Civic City Park and the surrounding areas. Admission to the
festival and the performances is free.
Festival attractions include an arts and crafts show, a car show, hospital bed racing, exhibits of old and new
farming equipment, and an old-fashioned cane grinding. Booths featuring local and regional food will serve
all day. There will also be a horseshoe tournament, rodeo, and a bass tournament. A Fun Park featuring a rock-climbing
wall, a giant slide and many other rides. One of the most popular events will be the Sweet Taste of Sugar Country Dessert
Contest held in the historic Clewiston Inn.
